Umar Sadiq’s header in the first half was all Nigeria needed to secure another three points in Group B of the Rio Olympics soccer event and qualify for the quarter finals.

After beating Japan in the first game of the group, Nigeria have now garnered six points to lead the group and qualify for the next phase of the game, in which Nigeria won gold in Atlanta in 1996.

Nigeria ought to have scored more goals in the match, but Sweden’s goal keeper, parried away many goal  bound shots.

In the second match of the group, Japan drew 2-2 with Colombia.

Nigeria will play their last game in the group against Colombia on 10 August, same day that Japan will tackle Sweden.
