Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has displayed the more than a dozen women working in his six year old administration.
It was part of the celebration of the International Women’s month, with the governor lavishing praises on the women for their strategic role in his government.
Ogun state not only has a female deputy governor, but governor Amosun has gone further to place women in other posts.
Appreciative of their role, the state executive council held a special session to celebrate women as part of activities marking the 2017 International Women’s month.
“More than the Beijing declaration, I believe that women are very good in the way they handle things and this is why our administration has entrusted them with many strategic roles,” Governor Amosun said.
He added that women, just like their male counterparts, are equally endowed by God and should therefore be empowered as of right.
Speaking with journalists, the Ogun State Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mrs Ronke Sokefun, charged women not to box themselves into a cage but come out and think like men while acting and looking like women.
On her part, the Consultant to the Governor on Power, Mrs Ronke Onadeko, affirmed that women have proven, overtime, to be good managers of resources.
She added that research, over the years, have proven that companies that have more women on their board are usually more successful.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Investment, Mrs Hafsat Abiola-Costello, on her part commended the Governor for even going beyond the requirement of the Beijing affirmative action for women inclusion in governance.
She encouraged men to embrace, support and challenge women to do more rather than see their inclusion as a threat.
