The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has congratulated a philanthropist and one its mentors, Dr Charles Chukwu, for bagging the Mike Omotosho award.
A statement by Mr Obinna Nwaka , NYCN’s Director of Political and Democratic Matters, said Chukwu bagged the `Outstanding Contribution to Empowerment’ award.
Nwaka said that Chukwu was honoured at the 3rd Mike Omotosho Annual Lecture with the theme “Millennials as protagonists in Nation Building”.
He said that Chukwu was recognised for his unbiased passion for youth empowerment, unflinching support and contributions towards national peace and development of the country.
“Off course, such event with the theme cannot be holding without the involvement of the Apex body and mouth piece of the Nigerian youths which is NYCN.
“The Council under the supervision of the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Development was on ground through the Directorate of Political and Democratic matters to witness and participate in the event since it bothered on young people.
“The event attracted business, political and media moguls across the country like former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, former first lady of Taraba State, first lady of kogi State Mrs Amina Bello, Linus Okorie among others.’’
He said that few other persons who had impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians were also honoured.
Nwaka said that NYCN, under the leadership of Comrade Murtala Garba, commended the entire Judges, board and organisers of the Mike Omotosho Foundation for the transparent assessment of the awardees and for finding Chukwu worthy of such noble award.
