Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State on Wednesday donated foodstuffs and baby clothing worth N500, 000 to the family of quadruplets and promised to assist the father of the babies, a local farmer.

A statement by the governor’s Special Advisor on Media and Public Relations, Malam Imam Imam, said the father of the quadruplets, Lawwali Illela, need support to boost his farming activities.

According to the statement, the assorted food items and baby wears were presented to the couple at their family home in Illela Local Government Area of the Sokoto State.

The governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Social Welfare, Alhaji Surajo Gatawa, said the government would continue to cater for the needs of the new babies and their parents.

“We are here to present these items as a means of support to you. The birth of a child is a moment of joy to us and because God decided to give you four at the same time, our joy is quadruple.’’

Tambuwal said that the Illela Local Government Area has already been directed to monitor the progress of the babies.

He said that health officials at the nearby primary healthcare centre have been asked to ensure constant check on the family.

Responding, the father of the quadruplets commended Tambuwal for his show of humanity, and expressed delight that the intervention came at a good time.

“We are not rich, but through these kids and through the governor, God has made us rich, we thank you very much and we’ll forever cherish this intervention,” he said.

Items donated include different types of wears, baby-friendly mosquito nets, four bags of rice, millet, sorghum, cartons of milk, wrappers and wears for the parents. (NAN)
