The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) on Thursday expressed its readiness to empower 1,000 women in each state of the federation.
Mrs Gloria Shoda, the President of NCWS, while speaking with newsmen in Abuja, said that beneficiaries would be selected from the Local Government Areas.
Shoda said that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) would be used as a pilot scheme scheduled to be inaugurated on July 17.
She said the inauguration was symbolic as it coincides with her first year in office.
According to her, the Bank of Industry (BoI) is in the process and approving a loan of N50,000 each to 1000 women in the 36 states and the FCT.
“We will start the pilot phase in the FCT and gradually expand it across the federation in the weeks and months ahead in 2017,’’ she said.
Shoda thanked the board and management of BoI for believing in the re-structured and re-engineered NCWS.
On her one year in office, she said the week-long event would commence with Juma’at prayers on July 14, thanksgiving service and other anniversary attractions.
