(dpa/NAN) Farmers, Poets, Opera Singers and a Footballer are among 682 men and 562 women to contest for the 63 seats of Iceland’s parliament, according to reports released on Wednesday.

Icelanders are set to go to the polls on Oct. 28, after the government of conservatives and liberals fell apart in September due to a sex-crime scandal.

Surveys showed the Left-Green movement clearly ahead of Prime Minister Bjarni Benediktsson’s conservatives, while the Pirates and the Social Democrats are fighting for third place.
