The big boys were all on parade on Saturday in the Spanish La Liga Match Day 8 and they were all ruthless against their opponents.

With Lionel Messi making a return, Barcelona walloped Deportivo La Coruna 4-0 at Camp Nou. Messi showed why he remains so pivotal to the team. He scored a goal, while Rafinha had a brace.

Real Madrid went away to beat Real Betis 6-1, with Isco, shining most, with two goals. Ronaldo, Benzema, even Marcelo scored as the European Champions destroyed their hosts.

Atletico staged a seven star performance, beating Granada 7-1.  Yannick Ferreira-Carrasco recorded a hat trick and Nicolas Gaitan, a brace for the Madrid team, in a rout that the club called a ‘red and white party’.

With Sevilla stealing a 3-2 victory at Leganes, it was a day of goal feast in the Spanish premier league.

In all 24 goals were recorded in four matches, in contrast to the 22 recorded in seven matches in the English Premier League.

Chelsea dazed the defending champions Leicester 3-0 in the first game of the day. But the medal for the goal record of the day was won by AFC Bournemouth as they spanked Hull City, 6-1.

Arsenal escaped with a 3-2 victory at the Emirates against Swansea, thanks to a brace by in-form Theo Walcott.

Leaders Manchester City forced a 1-1 draw against visiting Everton at the Etihad Stadium.

Stoke City beat Sunderland 2-0, while Tottenham and West Brom ended their encounter 1-1.
