Gareth bale: five years old at Real Madrid today

Real Madrid have celebrated the fifth anniversary of Welshman Gareth Bale, as a player for the club, describing him as a vital component of their attack, according to a post on their website.

On 2 September 2013, Bale, then the world’s most expensive player, was presented to the Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Five years on, he has made 193 appearances, scoring 91 goals and proving a key piece in the Madridista puzzle which has yielded 13 trophies: 4 Champions Leagues, 3 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 1 LaLiga title, 1 Copa del Rey and 1 Spanish Super Cup.

He came to the club from English side Tottenham and his spell in Madrid has seen him dominate numerous statistics. He’s quick with a fierce left-foot and extremely strong in the air.

Last season he netted 21 goals and he’s started this new campaign on fire, smashing 6 so far.

Bale has become a vital component of the madridista attack and he wasted no time in hitting his first ever goal, finding the back of the net on his debut against Villarreal.

Of his total of 91 strikes, several have been decisive and quite spectacular, among which the one he scored in the Copa del Rey final in 2014 against Barcelona or his bicycle-kick in Kiev which clinched La Decimotercera against Liverpool and wrote his name definitively into the Real Madrid history books.
