FIFA President, Mr. Gianni Infantino on Monday led a team of football chiefs to visit Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode at the Lagos House, Ikeja.
The FIFA chiefs are in Lagos for an Executive Football Summit, in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
Infantino said he was excited about visiting Lagos, adding that it was a pleasure and honour to be in Lagos State. He specially thanked the Governor for having him and his team in Lagos for the FIFA Executive Football Summit.
The FIFA President said that the Executive Football Summit is a democratic system where matters affecting the sport are discussed among stakeholders.
Among the matters to be discussed at the summit are the future of youth competitions, women competition, how to develop them and the transfer system
Gov. Ambode also expressed delight in having FIFA President in Lagos, noting that the big city will be the 2nd African City to host the meeting
He thanked FIFA President for having Justice Ayorinde Phillips as a member of the Ethics Committee of FIFA.
Gov. Ambode said that the state is big on youths and women soccer development with huge tourism potential to hold FIFA events.
