(NAN) Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt on Tuesday moved a step closer to winning his second gold medal at the ongoing Rio Olympic Games after he powered through the 200-meter first-round heat to advance to Wednesday’s semi-finals.
The race which took place on Tuesday saw Bolt winning his heat in a time of 20.28seconds.
The time is 1.09seconds short of his 19.19seconds world record that he expects to break in the finals.
Bolt’s compatriots Yohan Blake also cruised into the semi-finals in a time of 20.13.
Americans LaShawn Merritt and Justin Gatlin also booked their place in time of 20.15 and 20.42 respectively.
The semi-finals start on Wednesday, while the final takes place on Thursday.
