Senate President Bukola Saraki addresses the press on the blockade of the entrance of the National Assembly on Tuesday by DSS operatives and vows to ensure that democracy thrives as well as ensure justice and fairness.
He said that the siege on the National Assembly was an act of cowardice by those who orchestrated the attack out of desperation to remove him.
He said the incidence prevented the leadership of NASS from meeting with the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and promised that the meeting would still hold.
He expressed commitment to the conduct of free and fair elections in 2019
He appealed to the President Muhammadu Buhari to assent to the new electoral bill.
Saraki said it was not right to talk about the issues of impeachment of Buhari.
Though he commends Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on the sack of DSS boss Lawal Daura, but the action is long overdue.
