Lorry load of Christmas trees catches fire in Germany

(dpa/NAN) A lorry load of Christmas trees has caught fire on a motorway in Central Germany.

The lorry was on the A7 motorway near the spa town of Bad Hersfeld in the state of Hesse when its load caught fire on Wednesday, the Police said.

The driver was unharmed in the incident as he was able to detach the trailer and reach safety.

A fire engine that happened to be passing the scene of the incident was able to tackle the blaze.

A Police spokesperson said that there was disruption to traffic on the motorway.

It was not known why the fire broke out.
