A 35-year-old motor boy, Rasheed Balogun, who allegedly beat-up his fellow motor boy and removed three of his teeth, was on Thursday in Lagos granted a N200, 000 bail.
An Apapa Magistrates’ Court which gave the ruling asked Balogun to provide two sureties as part of the bail conditions.
The Magistrate, Mr M.A Etti said the sureties should be gainfully employed and should show evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
Etti adjourned the case until Jan. 5, 2018 for mention.
Balogun, who resides at Amukoko area of Apapa, Lagos, is facing a two count-charge bordering on assault.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Olusegun Kokoye, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 6, at Alafia Bus Stop, Amukoko, Apapa, Lagos.
Kokoye said the accused assaulted the complainant, Lukman Afolabi, by giving him several punches on the mouth, which removed his three front teeth.
He also claimed that the complainant suffered an injury on his lower lip.
The prosecutor said that the fight started after the duo had an argument over some money issues.
He said all efforts made by some pedestrians at the scene of the incident to settle the dispute proved abortive.
Kokoye said the complainant reported the case at the police station and the accused was arrested.
The offences contravened Sections 244 and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Section 245 prescribes a seven-year jail term for offenders.
The accused had, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
