he News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) is to enter a robust partnership with the Federal Inland Revenue Service ( FIRS) for the propagation of modern tax generation, management and utilisation system.
Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Managing Director of NAN who paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr Tunde Fowler, on Tuesday in Abuja said the visit was to further deepen partnership with FIRS and to introduce the new platforms in the NAN service, to help boost the revenue collection of the agency.
“ NAN is in a good position to bring tax campaign to the people; we are the main news fielder to bloggers, radio, television and print media among others.
“We want to introduce the photo and video portal, to enhance service delivery and also to make our operations relevant.
“We will continue to partner with you. I also want to say that in NAN we are tax compliant.”
He said that the website was better than what he inherited.
“It is an independent, free to read website and it is a platform you need to use to further campaign for tax collection.”
Responding, Fowler said the service would introduce new technologies, to make tax collection and management more convenient for Nigerians.
The FIRS boss said that the aim of the innovation was to encourage and educate Nigerians on payment of Value Added Tax (VAT) and other statutory taxes.
He promised to reinstate the relationship the service had with NAN.
“We need your support and partnership to help us in the area of information dissemination.
