Audu Ejo, Head Coach of Sand Super Eagles on Tuesday said his players were in top form and adequately prepared to take on Egypt in its first match at the 2016 CAF Beach Soccer championship.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event is scheduled to kick off from Dec. 13 to Dec. 18 at the Eko Atlantic, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Ejo, who spoke to NAN in Lagos, said: “We are ready for Egypt, we are facing them first, the first match is very important, it sets the pace for the other matches.
“We are in high spirit, our players have shown seriousness and commitment, they have the right attitude towards this competition and I sincerely hope luck shines on us.
“They train morning, afternoon and evening, they are training round the clock, we will play some friendly games among us’’.
On how many players that would make the first team, the coach said that only the best deserved to play in the first team.
“All my players deserve to play in the first team,’’ the coach said.
NAN reports that 23 players from various clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are in the Badagry camp since Nov. 14.
The winner and the first runners-up will represent Africa at the 9th FIFA Beach Soccer Tournament in Nassau, Bahamas from April 27 to May 7, 2017
The Sand Eagles have won the CAF beach soccer tournament twice in 2007 and 2009, while Madagascar won the 2015 edition in Seychelles. (NAN)
