The Apapa Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated N176.75 billion in the first half of 2018, 11billion naira above the N165.74 billion it generated within the same period in 2017.

The Command’s Spokesman, Mrs Nkeiruka Nwala, said the increase in revenue was a result of blocked revenue leakages in cargo clearance procedures implemented through the second phase of the Nigeria Integrated Customs Information System.

======An NGO, Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter, has treated 10 breast cancer patients with another 40 already registered for treatment.

Dr Toyin Ayimoro, the State Chairman of the association, noted that women were more vulnerable to the deadly disease and urged patients to visit hospitals for early detection to avert complications.

=====The U.S. Consulate in Nigeria says it is strengthening collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission to promote peace and security in the South-South region.

U.S. Consul-General, Mr F. John Bray, while on a visit to the commission said discussions were ongoing on strategies to sustain development in the region.

=====African media leaders have called for collaboration between Africa and the BRICS in the media sector, to ensure dissemination of authentic African stories and celebration of the continent’s successes.

They made the call at a two-day forum on BRICS Media and Africa held in Cape Town, South Africa, noting that BRICS entities could help Africa build capacity, disseminate news from an African perspective to align and strengthen an authentic footprint.

======The Court of Arbitration for Sports has overturned a decision by European soccer body UEFA to ban AC Milan from next season’s Europa League Competition following a 50 million euro boost from U.S. Hedge Fund Elliott Management.

UEFA said last month that AC Milan failed to meet a break-even requirement under its Financial Fair Play regulations, adding that the club had not provided sufficient evidence of its financial stability.
