Oil discoveries have increased significantly in the last year in Mexico, according to a report by the National Hydrocarbons Commission (CNH).
The CNH considered this trend can be maintained with the development of the projects awarded in different tenders with the participation of important international companies.

In 2017 it reached 381,000,999 barrels of crude oil equivalent in 2P reserves (proven and probable), which would represent an increase of 130.9 percent compared to the level of 360 ,000,000 barrels of oil equivalent in 2016, according to the latest statistics of the commission.

Natural gas resources stand out, since last year discoveries were reported for 994 billion cubic feet, 272 percent more than in 2016.

From 2013 to date, 49 fields were found that incorporated reserves for a total volume of 917,000,000 barrels of oil and 2 billion cubic feet of gas.

In 2017, Petroleos Mexicanos announced the discovery of the Ixachi field, incorporating reserves of 65.6,000,000 barrels of oil and 761.8 billion cubic feet of gas, according to the CNH report.
